Description from amazon.com:

Jane is a young New York woman who can never seem to find the right man—perhaps because of her secret obsession with Mr. Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. When a wealthy relative bequeaths her a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-obsessed women, however, Jane’s fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become more real than she ever could have imagined. Is this total immersion in a fake Austenland enough to make Jane kick the Austen obsession for good, or could all her dreams actually culminate in a Mr. Darcy of her own?

This was cute.  If you don’t like cute Chick Lit then skip this one.  The premise was intriquing.  What fun it would be to be one of Jane Austen’s heroines for a few weeks and then pop back into our old lives.  But as Jane, our heroine, finds out it can be difficult to distinguish between fantasy and reality.  The writing was good, the characters believable if not always likeable.  It was a fast read, light and good for an afternoon when the rain is beating down and you nowhere to go.

I haven’t read this Shannon Hale, but i’ve read a couple of her YA fairytale retellings. The Book of a Thousand Days is particularly beautiful. I highly recommend it.
