Description from amazon.com:

Their lives were perfect . . .
Lady Hero Batten, the beautiful sister of the Duke of Wakefield, has everything a woman could want, including the perfect fiancé. True, the Marquis of Mandeville is a trifle dull and has no sense of humor, but that doesn’t bother Hero. Until she meets his notorious brother . . .

Until they met each other.
Griffin Remmington, Lord Reading, is far from perfect – and he likes it that way. How he spends his days is a mystery, but all of London knows he engages in the worst sorts of drunken revelry at night. Hero takes an instant dislike to him, and Griffin thinks that Hero, with her charities and faultless manners, is much too impeccable for society, let alone his brother. Yet their near-constant battle of wits soon sparks desire – desire that causes their carefully constructed worlds to come tumbling down. As Hero’s wedding nears, and Griffin’s enemies lay plans to end their dreams forever, can two imperfect people find perfect true love?

**

Can a betrothed innocent find herself in love with her fiancé’s brother without causing havoc?  Of course not!  We see these two falling in love even though they both deny it and we wonder how they will ever reach a HEA (Happily Ever After).  They fall in lust and then in love (don’t you just love modern takes on the 1700’s?).  The side plot with the foundling home continues in this book from the first in the series Wicked Intentions (see review here) and frankly I find this plot line fascinating.  Silence Hollingbrook is the manager of the orphanage and her story continues on in the next book in the series Scandalous Desires (Oct 2011).  This book is on my wish list and I will read it soon because I must find out what happens between her and the river pirate.

This book stands alone although you will get a better picture of the series if you start with the first book.

I highly recommend this series.

I have to get onto this series, having heard very good things about it. I’m not sure how I feel about the names though. Kind of reminds me of BDB series.

  2. Mo, Nothing can compare to the Black Dagger Brotherhood names. 🙂
I’m glad you commented today since I want to order the next book in this series. I really like the part of the story that revolves around the seedy, St. Giles area of London.

      Lol…I know…xhex…for crying out loud!! 🙂

I’m going to have to bite the bullet and buy these. Aussie libraries are very low on Hoyts’ work….not sure why.

I saw your review of Laurens’ book, have you read A Secret Love yet? It’s part of the Cynster series, book 5 I think. I love that book…can’t wait to see what you think.
