Description from

She had never forgotten him…

Miss Octavia Pierce is witty, well off, and shockingly unwed. Still, she is far too successful in society to remain on the shelf forever, and her family has hopes that Octavia will finally make the perfect match. What they do not know is that years earlier Octavia was scandalously tempted by the one man capable of sweeping her off her feet—the man now known as the Marquess of Doreé.

A third son, never meant to inherit, Lord Ben Doreé has abandoned his past and grown accustomed to his illustrious new position of wealth and power. But he has never forgotten Octavia, and now she desperately needs his help in a most dangerous, clandestine matter. Although she claims she has put the memories of the passion they shared behind her, Ben is determined to once again have her in his arms—and in his bed.

As is my usual, I have never read this author and picked up for my first encounter book #3 in one of her series.  This book is a standalone story but I can’t help but think I might not have been as puzzled if I had read about some of the other characters first.  Don’t get me wrong, this was not a big problem and should not keep anyone from reading this very good book starting with this very affordable one currently at $.99 for the Kindle edition (as of 8/2/2013).

Ms Ashe has done her homework which has brought to life Colonial India and the English who occupied the country.  She pulls us out of India to take us back to London where Octavia and Ben meet again after seven years apart.  These two had a passionate encounter in India and when they meet again the air sizzles once more.  But there are complications and Ms Ashe treats us to mystery and action and evil along with super sizzling sex scenes. I look forward to reading more from this author.

  1. She sounds like an author I should be checking out!

  2. I always love it when a historical contains some India scenes – that’s a fascinating history with the relationship between England and India and how it shaped the Englishmen and women who lived there. I’m definitely going to check her out now and get this $.99 deal while it lasts!

    • I love it when good authors put up their books for free or $.99. Scenes in Regency and Victorian historical romances set in India are tops for me too. So far I haven’t found too many. The only other one I can think of is Sherry Thomas’ NOT QUITE A HUSBAND. I liked that one, it was one of the first HR’s I read when getting into the genre after a long drought.
