Description from Amazon.com:

Properly Wicked

Like her four sisters, Lady Audrina Bradleigh is expected to marry a duke, lead fashion, and behave with propriety. Consequently, Audrina pursues mischief with gusto, attending scandalous parties and indulging in illicit affairs. But when an erstwhile lover threatens to ruin her reputation, Audrina has no choice but to find a respectable husband at once.

Who would guess that her search would lead her to Giles Rutherford, a blunt-spoken American on a treasure hunt of his own? When a Christmas snowstorm strands the pair at a country inn, more secrets are traded than gifts–along with kisses that require no mistletoe–and Audrina discovers even proper gentlemen have their wicked side. . .

**

The above official description of this book is slightly misleading. This book is so much more than Audrina husband hunting and Giles treasure hunting. It starts out seeming like a very predictable historical romance but it becomes not just a romance of Audrina and Giles, not just a treasure hunt, but a mystery and another romance between two unlikely side characters. Theresa Romain has intertwined these three sub-plots seamlessly and with consummate skill. She did leave me wondering about the lives of two other side characters and if there could be another book with their story. There are some surprises and twists along the way and all of this lends itself to a can’t-put-down page turner. I highly recommend this book.

Description from Amazon.com:

“I kiss him, choosing love over honesty, which is a choice nobody should ever have to make…”

Robin loves sweet, responsible Nick, with his penchant for Beethoven and Ben Folds Five. But she also still loves her college boyfriend Jed, an irreverent playwright plagued with cystic fibrosis. Now Robin is struggling to reveal her secrets and confront her past, as she finally performs in the play that Jed wrote for her, eleven years ago. Will Robin have the strength to keep her promise and stay true to her heart?

Alternating between present-day scenes, college flashbacks, and segments from Jed’s play, this tear-jerking yet uplifting tale illustrates how life is finite but love is infinite, and the road to recovery begins with the next breath.

**

This is a profound study of love and loss. We met Robin in Osterkamp’s book HIDDEN. This book is a continuation of Robin’s search to find herself and put her past to rest. Resting the past is not easy for Robin since it means letting go of a man she loved and embracing the man she now loves. Laurel Osterkamp delves into the subject of Cystic Fibrosis and how it affects family and friends. There are moments of heartbreaking sorrow along with moments of joy and renewal. This is not a light hearted book but a wonderful study of love, grief, survival and perserverance.

Description from Amazon.com:

For Olivia Bentley, Lucky Harbor is more than the town where she runs her new vintage shop. It’s the place where folks are friendly to strangers-and nobody knows her real name. Olivia does a good job of keeping her past buried, not getting too cozy with anyone . . . until she sees a man drowning. Suddenly she’s rushing into the surf, getting up close and personal with the hottest guy she’s ever laid hands on. Charter boat captain Cole Donovan has no problem with a gorgeous woman throwing her arms around his neck in an effort to “save” him. In fact, he’d like to spend a lot more time skin-to-skin with Olivia. He’s just not expecting that real trouble is about to come her way. Will it bring her deeper into Cole’s heart, or will it be the end of Olivia’s days in little Lucky Harbor?

**

This is the #11 book in Shalvis’ Lucky Harbor Series but go ahead and jump right in because it is a standalone novel and a fun and romantic story. Shalvis starts off with a comical and daring “rescue” of Cole by Olivia. How can they not get together when one thing leads to no clothes? But Olivia has secrets and some emotional baggage and Cole is a guy who values honesty above all. It is quick and delightful reading to discover how Shalvis will make this obviously perfect match actually work out even though it is a bit predictable. The side characters have been met in previous books of the series and they will make you want to read their stories if you are coming in late to the series, as will those characters who are still waiting for their stories to happen. Tanner and Callie will get theirs in the next installment of the series, ONE IN A MILLION (October, 2014).

A top-notch Contemproary romance from a top-notch author. You’re gonna love it.
