Description from Amazon.com:

A most delicious challenge…   Experience has taught Emily Shaw that men are best avoided, so she’s determined to take her place in society alone and unrestrained by marriage. Renting a room in the heart of London, she establishes a Women’s League to promote equality between the sexes and teach women to be independent.   Jasper St David isn’t looking for distractions, but he’s fascinated by beautiful, fiercely opinionated Emily when she moves into the office above his. And when he learns of her determination never to succumb to male charms, he can’t help but see it as a challenge! After all, Jasper’s always found nothing more tantalizing than the thrill of the chase…

**

Jasper and Emily meet for the first time when she is gathering the members of her suffragette type organization on the sidewalk in front of his newly opened office.  The meeting is not friendly for Jasper is in high dungeon thinking that the gaggle of women will drive away his potential clients.  Emily sets him straight as to the public area of the sidewalk and Jasper is quite chagrined at his ungentlemanly demeanor.  Of course this is just the first of many meetings since Emily’s organization rents the office on the floor above Jasper’s office.  There is the coincidence of a dove on her charm bracelet and the dove painted on the window of Jasper’s office.

Anabelle Bryant can weave a very unique story.  There are some surprises that pop up about Emily that add to the drama.  Although when revealed to Jasper they don’t have the effect that one would think.  This is a lighthearted sweet and sexy read that will leave you wanting to read the story of Whimsey and Dash in the first book of this series.

Throughout my reading of this story I had problems with this being set in the Regency Era.  It felt like a mid to late Victorian story.  Emily walked all over London without a chaperone or maid.  She rented an office which seems unlikely in the Regency. The other young ladies in her League of Virtuous Enlightenment also were unaccompanied by chaperones.  This may not be an annoyance to some readers but I found it disconcerting.  However that does not keep me from recommending this book to HR fans.  The story is unique and well written.

P.S.- This cover does not portray “Regency”, the gown is wrong for the Era.  The man looks to be a ruffian not an aristocrat.
