Book #1 of The Devil’s Duke
Lady Constance Read is independent, beautiful, and in need of a husband—now. The last man on earth she wants is the rogue who broke her heart six years ago, never mind that his kisses are scorching hot . . .
Evan Saint-André Sterling is rich, scarred, and finished with women—forever. He’s not about to lose his head over the bewitching beauty who once turned his life upside down.
But Constance needs a warrior, and Saint is the perfect man for the job. Only as a married woman can she penetrate Scotland’s most notorious secret society and bring a diabolical duke to justice. When Constance and Saint become allies—and passionate lovers—he’ll risk everything to protect the only woman he has ever loved.
I’m sure everyone has heard about those opening scenes that grab you and suck you into the story. Well, hold onto your hats because the opening of this book will certainly keep you reading far into the night. Constance is an innocent18, peeking through a door at a rather scandalous party when she is spotted by the one man she has been staring at all night. He crosses the room to her hiding spot and she runs, he follows, this is Saint. There are many layers to this story that unfolds throughout the book. But one constant remains; these two are destined to have their lives intertwine.
Katherine Ashe is the mistress of sensual encounters. In this novel we have innocent but steamy kisses as well as indications of demon worship and wife swapping. But at the core is the romance of these two people who because of class differences are never to be together.
I highly, highly, recommend this book. You’re gonna love it!
