Description from Amazon.com:

A BRIDE FOR LORD CHALLMOND Simon Townsled, Lord Challmond, is off to his Devonshire country estate, where he is sure to be safe from feminine wiles. But he doesn’t count on feisty do-gooder Miss Claire Blakewell—who is as determined to march down the aisle as he is to avoid it . . .

A BRIDE FOR LORD WICKTON Barth Juston, Earl of Wickton, assumes a woman would be grateful to accept an arranged marriage with him. What a shock that beautiful Isa Lawford is not! In fact, she insists she prefers someone else! Now this overconfident lord is about to enter the most perilous battle of all: a fight for a woman’s heart . . .

A BRIDE FOR LORD BRASLEIGH Philip Marrow, Lord Brasleigh, must marry off his troublesome ward, Miss Bella Howe. But determined to wed for love, Bella has run away, and Philip must track her down. Since he has never met her, he plans to play the rogue and scare her back to London. He never expects to ignite an overwhelming passion . . . or find a lady who fights fire with a clever scheme all her own . . .
From the Author: Dear Reader, Long before I wrote my sexy paranormal romances, I wrote traditional Regency romances as Debbie Raleigh. Now I’m delighted that three of my favorites are available once more. This trilogy features three dashing rakes returning home from war. But along the way, a gypsy predicts that love will trap them all. Their high-spirited response? A daring wager! By June the first, whomever Cupid catches must forfeit one thousand pounds and a red rose . . .
I’ve fallen head over heels for these timeless books all over again, and believe that you will too. Alexandra Ivy

***

Comprised of Three distinct books that are intertwined and preceded by prologues that capture the viewpoint of each aristocratic hero. All the heroes are quite similar.  They are returning soldiers, officers who fought against Napoleon, friends who spent some post-war time in Italy and now are back in England redy to assume their responsibilities toward their title and estates.  A Gypsy in Italy blessed them with a charm of true love within the next year.  So our heroes make a bet that whomever of them succumbs to true love will forfeit a thousand pounds and a red rose to the others. The remainder of the books are about our heroes Simon, Barth and Phillip trying their best to avoid falling in love and doing a terrible job of it.

Each book features a feisty heroine determined to not fall in love. Simon’s nemesis is Claire Blakewell a neighbor who seems to try Simon’s patience. Barth’s betrothed, Isa Lawford, is calling off the betrothal because she thinks she is in love with another man. Phillip’s ward, Bella Lowe, is fighting against marrying someone Phillip has chosen for her.

I enjoyed seeing how each arrogant lord was brought to true love by these strong-willed women and how each woman was struck by cupid’s arrow at the same time.  This is not a book with graphic sex scenes.  There is some sexual tension. The stories were well written and developed, with all three lords appearing in each book.  My only criticism is the author’s overuse of the word “absurd”, It appears so often as to be annoying.

Description from Amazon.com:

Dear Reader,   Long before I wrote my sexy paranormal romances, I wrote traditional Regency romances as Debbie Raleigh. Now I’m thrilled to have them made available once more, as fresh and adventurous as ever…   To avoid the taint of her mother’s scandalous reputation, Miss Kate Frazer stifles her naturally high spirits to become a model of propriety. But when she is rewarded with a suitor who cares only for her dowry—and leaves her waiting at the altar on her wedding day—Kate determines that she will live as she chooses. Her first adventure will be a trip to London under an assumed name to enjoy the city’s delights. And woe to anyone who stands in her way—particularly her fiancé…   Lucius Calfield wasn’t looking forward to wedlock with the tediously suitable Kate Frazer. Still, he is chagrined when a violent storm makes him late for the ceremony. But embarrassment turns to astonishment when he finds that his fiancée has vanished entirely! And that is the least of the surprises his unaccountably changed—and unexpectedly irresistible bride—has in store…

**

This is not your current day Historical Romance.  There are no dastardly villains and not very much angst.  Oh sure, Kate’s decision to jilt Luce causes him angst, but it really doesn’t translate to the reader. I didn’t dislike this story but I did find it slow and a bit tedious. We are never quite sure of Lord Thorne’s intentions toward Kate so we don’t know if we should dislike him or champion him.  Perhaps he is a better match for our heroine.  Luce does need Kate’s dowry so there is no denying that aspect and perhaps she is correct in thinking he only wants her for her money.  That she agrees to go off with him to Brighton is a bit implausible since she has been adamant about having him leave her alone.  The falling-in-love is a bit too slick.

The dialog was believable and seemed to fit the period which is always a plus for me. I got a true feeling of regency London and the entertainments it afforded a young woman. So, yes, this read was just a little better than “okay”.

Now the Pantera must discover the answer to their dying magic and halt an ancient enemy before it can destroy them all. RAPHAEL The brilliant and dangerous diplomat of the Pantera shapeshifters, Raphael has devoted his life to discovering the key to the infertility that is threatening the extinction of his puma race. But as she and Parish fight to save the life of an unborn child, a fierce and overwhelming bond develops between them, threatening her frozen heart with the secret hope and ultimate temptation of love and family. Word Count: 40,000 words/ 183 pages This new series of double novellas are set in the world of the Bayou Wildlands. It contains hot, sexy shapeshifters, graphic language and adult themes.

**

These are the first two novellas in the Bayou Heat Series. I did find them very interesting. The world of the Pantera is explained but I feel like there could have been more. The women fall for these Puma shifters a bit hard and fast but then there could have been some Puma magic involved. Both authors are accomplished writers and give us a feel for this “otherworld”. There are sizzling hot sex scenes and some violent action scenes. I did like these novellas, and recommend them to those readers who enjoy Paranormal Romance and shifters.

Out Of Control by Alexandra Ivy

Ph.D student Angela Locke has a crush on her sexy professor, Dr. Nikolo Bartrev. When she learns he’s actually a Sentinel with extraordinary powers, she joins forces with him to catch a psychopath. But soon, their hottest pursuit is of each other…

Deet’s review– This was a sexy story that the author is using to introduce her new series.  I thought it was well written with loads of sexual tension.   3.5 stars

Ties That Bind by Nina Bangs

Cassie Tyler agrees to sub for her friend at the funeral home where she works. But she gets more than she bargained for when a group of men attack her and a vampire comes to her rescue. . .

Deet’s review–  This story was the scariest and really well done on the heart-pounding scale with a good romance thrown in. Lots of action. 3.5 stars

In Still Darkness by Dianne Duvall
Immortal Richart d’Alençon can’t forget the woman who rewarded him with a sensuous kiss after he saved her from a trio of vampires. While Richart knows that loving a human can only bring trouble, the taste of forbidden lust is too great to resist. . .

Deet’s review- Immortals are the good blood suckers and Vampires are the insane evil that they are trying to eliminate.  The Immortal, Richart, saves the human, Jenna.  There is romance and action  a plenty. 3.5 stars

High Stakes by Hannah Jayne

When vampire fashionista Nina LaShay’s design contest rival is found dead, she’s the prime suspect. Sexy photographer Pike is number two. He’s the kind of man who makes Nina salivate. But will she have to reveal herself to have him–and to save them both? Or does Pike have a secret of his own?

Deet’s review– Nina is a sarcastic, flippant vampire who falls in lust at first sight with Pike.  This story is a well executed murder mystery more than a romance although there are romantic elements. 3.5 stars (no sex in this one)

**

I love anthologies for when I have little time to read but still crave a good story.  This book delivers fast reads that satisfy that itch for the paranormal and romance.  All of the first three are very sexy with 5 out of 5 stars on the sensuality scale.  The fourth by Hannah Jayne does not have any sex.  I enjoyed each story but trying to develop a feel for all the different worlds in just a few pages was sometimes daunting.  That is why I tend to like the long novel form better.  I do recommend this anthology.  Each story was intriguing in its own way and showcased each of the very diverse, talented authors.  This is certainly a terrific introduction to each of these authors.
