8 Thursdays ‘Til Christmas- 2 christmas romance reviews-Sarah Morgan’s O’Neil Brothers

Yes dear ones. Only 2 months until Christmas.  Better get that credit card in gear and get shopping.  The national economy is counting on you.  To help you through the hectic days ahead, each Thursday from now until Christmas I will post a review of a Chrstmasy book to help you destress from the holiday hub-bub.  But since this is the first Thursday, I’m giving you a treat of two Christmasy books in Sarah Morgan’s ONeil Brothers Trilogy. Up First:

Title: Sleigh Bells In The Snow (O’Neil Brothers #1)

Sleigh Bells in the snow no 1 O'neil bros.

Genre: Contemporary Romance/Holiday

Author: Sarah Morgan

Publisher: Harlequin HQN, 2013

Source: purchase

Rating: 3

Sexy Rating: 5

Christmasy Feeling: 5

Description from Amazon.com:

Once upon a time, Christmas was Kayla Green’s favorite time of year. Now all the workaholic wants for Christmas is for it to be over—as fast as possible! So when duty calls her to snowy Vermont to close a deal with a new client, Kayla is grateful for an excuse to avoid the holidays for another year.

Jackson O’Neil left a thriving business behind to return home and salvage his family’s resort—it’s in his blood, and he can’t let it fail. Now that he’s got marketing whiz Kayla Green working with him to put Snow Crystal on the map, success is on the horizon. The fact they strike enough sparks off each other to power all the Christmas lights in Vermont is just an added bonus.

Kayla might be an expert at her job, but she’s out of her depth with Jackson—he makes her crave the happy-ever-after she once dreamed of, and it’s terrifying. As the snowflakes continue to swirl, will the woman who doesn’t believe in the magic of Christmas finally fall under its spell?

This holiday Chick-Lit is too predictable, actually it is too much of just about everything. There is too much cold and snow, too much cozy dysfunctional family, too much supposedly smart woman who acts quite stupid.

So why do I give it 3 stars instead of 2? The writing is well done. Ms Morgan makes us feel the cold snowyness of winter in Vermont. She made me go to my kitchen and make a cup of hot chocolate just to ward off the chill. She can write various character personalities so that they come alive and jump off the page. This is a very cozy Christmas read and if you want a little sexy with your comfy Christmas read then this is it. The Christmas spirit is strong in this book.

Next is:

Title: Maybe This Christmas (O’Neil brothers #3)

Maybe This christmas no. 1 O'Neil Bros

Genre: Contemporary Romance/Holiday

Author: Sarah Morgan

Publisher: Harlequin HQN, 2014

Christmasy Feeling: 5

Description from Amazon.com:

This winter, ex-skiing champion, reformed heartbreaker and single dad Tyler O’Neil has only one mission—making sure his daughter, Jess, has the best Christmas ever. The fact that his best friend, Brenna, is also temporarily moving into his chalet at the overbooked Snow Crystal resort is a delicious distraction he’s simply going to have to ignore. Theirs is the one relationship he’s never ruined, and he’s not about to start now.

Ski pro Brenna Daniels knows all about the perils of unrequited love—she’s been in love with Tyler for years. But living with him is absolute torture… How can she concentrate on being his friend when he’s sleeping in the room next door? Then when Tyler kisses Brenna, suddenly the relationship she’s always dreamed of feels so close she could almost touch it. Could this be the Christmas her dreams of a happy-ever-after finally come true?

Another sweet and sexy snow country story from Sarah Morgan. It is difficult to stay neutral about a hunky, athletic, handsome as sin hero. So I won’t…stay neutral that is. I’ll take this guy, and all his troubles if Brenna doesn’t want him. Unfortunately for me, Brenna wants him but doesn’t think he will ever be interested in her.

This is the third book in Morgan’s O’Neil Brothers Trilogy and my favorite although the first book was worth the read. This book delves into the highs and lows of raising a child with a single parent. It explores unrequited love and commitment phobia. As you can surmise it tackles a lot of issues but not so deeply as to become pendantic. This is a quick and fun read and brimming with holiday spirit. You will like this one too for a light holiday read.

Now I know you are wondering about the O’Neil Brothers #2.  I have to admit I have yet to read Sean’s story but I look forward to it.  It is Suddenly Last Summer.
