Description from Amazon:

After witnessing a gruesome murder, Jane Smith has watched her life crumble around her. Her only solace is the stunning and mysterious tapestry she discovered at a thrift store. When the image stitched into the tapestry magically comes to life one night, Jane finds herself transported to a mystical Medieval world, where two massive warriors declare their intentions to cater to her every sensual desire.

Zaren and Bador are stunned to realize that the prophecy of the tapestry has come true and brought Jane to them. The brothers willingly accept their duty to indulge her in every possible form of passion. But Jane’s arrival has also attracted the attention of rival warriors, who will go to any lengths to steal her from the Bakra brothers and claim her as their own.

As Jane adjusts to this frightening but enthralling world, Zaren and Bador risk all to protect her—even as they use all their sexual skill, separately and together, to take her to unimagined sensual heights. Because the time for Jane to choose is drawing near, and the Bakra brothers must convince her to abandon her former life—and take one of them as her loving husband for all time . . .

Looking for a sexy, erotic romance without BDSM, this is your book. However if you want a good time-travel book then this one falls short. This is typical erotica in that there is a lot of sex in many variations, but it is cloaked in a bit of sappy romance. Zaren is over-the-top in his “love” for Jane. At least Bador seems to have a level head. Jane is having the time of her sexual life so it really leaves little doubt about her staying with the brothers or about which one she will choose for a husband. Little does it matter since she will still get to have sex with her brother-in-law also. This is a good erotic novel if you are tired of women being blindfolded and tied up, none of that here. Jane is a very active participant in all the bedroom romps. The writing is good, I just wish the time-travel part was explored further. The TT premise was a good one but it fell flat.

Romantic Suspense Review-King’s Captive by Amber Bardan

Description from Amazon.com:

For three years, I’ve belonged to Julius King. Some people would think being stuck on a private island is heaven, but this is my hell.   Because I’m not here as a guest. Not even close. I’m a prisoner. I’m his. Julius King. Powerful. Wealthy. Dangerous. There are parts of me he wants that I can’t give him. When he looks at me, there are times I swear he sees someone else. And the scary part is that sometimes, when he touches me, I think he may be someone else, too. Though my body might be tempted, and he might control everything else, I can’t let him have any piece of my heart. I won’t. But every day, the fight gets harder, and Julius manages to slip past my defenses in the most unexpected ways.  I have to find out the truth about Julius King. Even if it destroys me.

Wow! Hang on to your hat for a wild ride.  At the start this book seems to be a fairly adequate description of Stockholm Syndrome.  But that’s only the start.  We readers are privy to Sarah’s view of events and we learn along the way of Julius’ version which doesn’t always match. There are twists and surprises that I absolutely, positively guarantee will keep you from putting the book down. The sex is sizzling. Truly a very good read by an author who is new to me. I look forward to more adventures in her books.

Description from Amazon.com:

One seriously sexy son-of-a-duke . . .

Behind the posh British accent, Dylan Hale possesses a down-and-dirty sexiness. Off-the-charts gorgeous, a ruthless architect . . . and did I mention he’s a future duke? Every time we touch, it’s wildfire. All need and lust and heat. But Dylan has rules: just sex, no one can know, and in the bedroom he gets complete control. All I have to do is follow the rules, because falling in love with Dylan Hale is all it would take to screw everything up . . . royally. Dylan and Lydia’s story continues!

Royal Scandal Series Book 2: Royal Disaster Book 3: Royal Treatment

Lydia is a sweet college grad about to start her dream job when she meets Dylan.  At first she doesn’t know he’s 1) a Marquess, 2) a paparazzi magnet and 3) a world renowned architect.  All Lydia knows is that she is in instant lust with this super-hot man. Dylan is all about seducing Lydia but only on his terms; which means no public appearances and he calls the shots.

This is very Fifty Shades meets Sweet filthy boy.  The sex is hot and kinky.  The attraction and sexual tension is off the charts.  The main characters are very believable but the side characters are a bit sketchy.  We have an Alpha man and a naïve younger woman.  There is some BDSM and spanking. I enjoyed this book but couldn’t help comparing it to those other books I mentioned. There is little that is original.

Description from Amazon.com:

Montreal, Quebec . . . A charming city on the St. Lawrence River, historic, sophisticated, but beneath it all lies an extensive underground where treacherous vampires are plotting to seize the country. Lucifer Scuderi is a vampire—handsome and charismatic, a powerful hunter of unusual skill—who arrives in Montreal to take on the most important hunt of his life. Someone has kidnapped the mate of Canada’s ruling vampire lord, and it’s up to Lucifer to find him before his death sets off a crisis that could engulf the entire continent. Eleanor Morel lost everything—including the love of her life—when she became a vampire. But now, twenty years later, she’s a trusted bodyguard to the Canadian lord, Sophia, and the only person Sophia can count on to lead the search for her endangered mate. But what Eleanor doesn’t know is that the special hunter she’ll be working with is none other than her long-lost love. And he’s demanding answers. Lucifer’s love for Eleanor burns as hot as his anger towards her for leaving him. But they’ll have to find a way to set history aside and work together if they’re going to unravel the twisted betrayal that threatens not only Sophia and her mate, but the whole continent. Because the European vampires are on the move. And if Canada falls, the rest of North America could follow . . .

(D. B. Reynolds is the RT and EPIC Award-Winning author of the Vampires in America series of paranormal romance and an Emmy-nominated television sound editor. She lives with her husband of many years in a flammable canyon near Los Angeles, and when she’s not writing her own books, she can usually be found reading someone else’s. Visit her blog at dbreynolds.com for details on all of her books, for free stories, and more.)

I’m always wondering how to classify the genre of the Vampires In America Series.  Yes, it is Paranormal Romance but it is also Urban Fantasy, Romantic Suspense and Erotic Romance.  It is romance in that the focus is always on the romantic involvement of the main characters but the running side story is all about vampire politics which is often violent and conniving.  In this installment we are treated to the most romantic of all of Reynolds’ vampires.  Lucifer Scuderi loved Eleanor before she was made a vampire and lost her twenty years ago. Now he finds her again as his aide in recovering the kidnapped Colin and he has no intentions of losing her again. Eleanor is still besotted with Lucifer but thinks that their relationship is doomed because she thinks two vampires cannot find happiness together. Together they make a formidable team in the search for Colin.

This series is still going strong after eleven books which is to the credit of terrific writing and an author not afraid to change things up. Always, Ms. Reynolds’ heroines are feisty and quite able to take care of themselves in this violent world. Eleanor is a vampire to be reckoned with. Humans, those not a love interest of the protagonists, are relegated to bit-part players, usually as daytime trusted guards of the vampires. I would like to see humans playing a more pivotal role in the series. There is a lot of sex in this book. A lot! I personally would have liked less because the story did not need this amount to carry the plot or theme. I even found myself skipping some sex scenes, which is far beyond what I usually do, so I could get back to the meat of the story. The action scenes are truly well choreographed and leave us biting our nails to wait for the end of the confrontation.  The suspense is riveting.

This is a superb addition to a superb series.  Yes, this is a standalone book but you would do well to enjoy the entire series starting with book #1 RAPHAEL. You can type in my search box Vampires In America to find my reviews for all of the books in the series.

Releasing Tomorrow-Review- For 100 Days by Lara Adrian

For 100 Days

Genre: Erotic Romance

Author: Lara Adrian

Publisher: Lara Adrian, LLC, May 24, 2016

Pages: 272

Rating: 4

Sexy Rating: 5++ (some mild restraining not heavy BDSM)

Description from Amazon.com:

Struggling artist Avery Ross is barely scraping by. Bartending at a trendy New York City restaurant for an overbearing boss and two weeks away from losing her apartment to a condo developer, she’s desperate for a break. So when she’s offered a temporary housesitting job, she takes it. Living at one of the poshest addresses in Manhattan is like entering a new world–one that catapults her into the orbit of billionaire Dominic Baine, the darkly handsome, arrogantly alpha resident of the building’s penthouse. What begins as a powerful attraction soon explodes into a white-hot passion neither can deny. Yet as scorching as their need for each other is, Avery doesn’t expect Nick’s interest in her to last. Nor does she dare to dream that the desire she feels for this scarred, emotionally remote man could deepen into something real. For Avery has secrets of her own–and a past that could destroy her . . . and shatter everything she and Nick share.

FOR 100 DAYS is the first novel in a passionate new contemporary romance trilogy from New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Lara Adrian. Coming later in 2016: FOR 100 NIGHTS and FOR 100 REASONS.

Whew! If you want a lusty novel, then here you go.  Lara Adrian has given us a young woman, Avery, damaged by a past she holds secret and a early 30ish billionaire, Nick, who falls instantly in lust with Avery. The sizzle is mutual. We slowly learn about Avery’s background but by the end of the book Nick is still somewhat a mystery.  We may learn what that is in the next book of this trilogy. Side Character Tasha is Avery’s best friend and co-worker.  I enjoyed the counterpoint of Tasha’s normal family life as opposed to Avery’s passionate affair.

I have always been a huge fan of Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed Series of Paranormal romance novels so it was a no brainer for me that I would enjoy reading this book although it is far from the vampire genre.  She brings her shrewd ability to tell a story that is both compelling and hot-as-hell. These characters are likable and flawed.  Nick is everything a girl could want and Avery is every guys dream but I was still more drawn to Tasha.  I’m hoping for more of her in the series as it unfolds.

Yes, a recommendation from me but be aware that the amount of sex is over the top.

I received this book free for review from the publisher.

A taste of Scandal

Suzanna Medeiros, Kate Pearce, Sandra Schwab

Publisher: Sky spark Books, October 5, 2015, E-Book $.99

Pages: Not Available

Rating: 5 (see message)

Sexy Rating: 5 (see message)

Message from Deet:  This is a boxed collection of 8 full length novels.  Normally I wait until I have read all the books in a collection before I write a review but this collection is available for a limited time and I don’t want you to miss out on this terrific price of $.99 for all 8 of them.  I have read two of the books to date ( Megan Bryce’s To Wed The Widow and Madelynne Ellis’ Three Times The Scandal) and their reviews follow below along with the synopsis for the other books in the collection. The collection is available in the USA and UK and I suggest strongly that you pick this one up.

Description from Amazon.com:

Bad Boys, Sexy Scoundrels, and Regency Rogues Heat up your history with these eight amazing novels from USA Today bestselling authors and brand new voices in this box set! From Regency ballrooms to Victorian bedrooms, there’s something here for every lover of steamy, sexy historical romance. Scottish highlanders, devilish dukes, noble spies, and witty aristocrats use humor, wits, and intrigue to get whatever — and whoever — they desire. But these daring heroes meet their match when they encounter bewitching beauties who want more than just a taste of scandal…

Megan Bryce — To Wed the Widow George Sinclair would rather poke his eye out than appease his brother the earl, who thinks George ought to marry a dull, scandal-less wife. However, the oft-widowed Lady Haywood is a scandalous distraction that no gentleman can ignore.

Deet’s review: This book is number three in Megan Bryce’s The Reluctant Bride series.  It is a standalone novel but I can guarantee that you will want to read more from this terrific author.  This book contains the most delightful witty banter along with a well plotted story and superbly nuanced characters.  I cannot praise this one high enough.  It is well worth the $.99 you will spend on the entire collection.  Don’t pass this up!!!!

Deet’s rating: 5+, Sexy Rating: 5

Madelynne Ellis — Three Times the Scandal Engaged to a man she despises, Fortuna Allenthorpe abandons duty and flees into the night with a notorious rakehell. Giles Dovecote isn’t looking for a wife, but Fortuna makes him want things he considers off limits. How long can he hold fast to his principles, if they mean surrendering the woman he loves?

Deet’s Review:The title of this book refers to Giles Dovecoat and his two best friends, Robert and Ned Darleston.  They are true Regency Rakehells.  They believe in “Free Love” and have no intention of following all those pesky ton rules.  Fortuna is eager to explore her sensual side and is not averse to doing that with all three, either together or singly. As you might have realized, this is a Historical Erotic Romance.  If you don’t mind lots of sex with lots of participants then I think this is one you will truly enjoy.  The writing is superb! There is a plot and there is romance as well as a mystery. This is book #4 in Ms. Ellis’ Scandalous Seductions series but is a standalone with only minor references to previous books. Again, certainly worth the price of this $.99 collection.

Deet’s Rating: 5, Sexy Rating: 5+

Elizabeth Cole — A Heartless Design “Heartless” Cordelia Bering refuses every marriage offer she receives. A marriage could reveal her secret double life. Then she meets Sebastien Thorne, a spy in the service of the Crown. He is determined to learn all her secrets, all her desires…and ensnare her heart.

Dawn Halliday — The Sweetest Revenge When the Earl of Leothaid took Isabelle Frasier’s innocence, the resulting scandal drove her to England in humiliating exile. Seven years later, she joins with two other women to seek vengeance. But as Isabelle surrenders to her reawakening feelings for the wicked earl, she faces an impossible choice…

Vicki Hopkins — Dark Persuasion A cruel accident left Charlotte Gray blind at the age of eight. However, her aristocratic neighbors have taken a peculiar interest in her welfare and hold a debutante ball in her honor, where two brothers become rivals for her affections. Inexperienced and vulnerable to a fault, Charlotte begins to traverse the unfamiliar world of courtship, discovering that love is truly blind…

Suzanna Medeiros — Loving the Marquess To save her family, the desperate Louisa Evans must turn to the head of the family that ruined hers. The Marquess of Overlea marries her for reasons of his own. After the wedding, he reveals he inherited the same illness that killed his father. To save the marquisate, he intends to have another man father his heir. But his plan becomes complicated by an almost desperate need to claim Louisa for himself.

Kate Pearce — Educating Elizabeth When Miss Elizabeth Waterstone encounters the enigmatic Duke of Diable Delamere, she is determined to exploit his rakish expertise. The duke agrees to teach her everything she needs to know, but soon finds himself needing more than her innocent skills in his bed. Together, they must work together to save the Prince Regent, even as they fall into a dangerous love.

Sandra Schwab — Bewitched After a magical mishap, Miss Amelia Bourne is stripped of her powers and sent to London in order to be introduced into polite society–and to handsome, rakish Sebastian “Fox” Stapleton. But she and Fox are now pawns in a mysterious, deadly game. Will Amelia be strong enough to battle the evil that lurks in the dark, and will she be able to claim her heart’s true desire?

Description from Amazon.com:

One-night stands are supposed to be with someone convenient, or wickedly persuasive, or regrettable. They aren’t supposed to be with someone like him. But after a crazy Vegas weekend celebrating her college graduation—and terrified of the future path she knows is a cop-out—Mia Holland makes the wildest decision of her life: follow Ansel Guillaume—her sweet, filthy fling—to France for the summer and just…play. When feelings begin to develop behind the provocative roles they take on, and their temporary masquerade adventures begin to feel real, Mia will have to decide if she belongs in the life she left because it was all wrong, or in the strange new one that seems worlds away.

Okay, does that title grab you? Hm-m-m, do you think maybe this is a sexy book? Does the fact that Romantic Times Magazine dubbed it “Book of The Year” at this year’s convention mean anything? Well, what can I say, yes, the title grabbed me, I figured it was sexy and if Romantic Times thought it that good maybe I should just see what the fuss was all about.

Sexy does not begin to describe all the sex in this book. Some sensuous, some rough, some play-acting all written VERY well. Ansel is truly a gorgeous hunk and who could resist his French accent. Mia is confused about her future for most of the book but has fallen for Ansel although she tries to deny the attachment. What happened in Vegas started something that traveled all the way to Paris.

Yes, I read this cover to cover, all 416 pages in two days. I had trouble putting it down when I really needed to sleep so I picked it up again first thing the next morning. These characters were believable and their lusting for each other was also believable. I kept waiting for this initial infatuation to wear off. I could not see how these two were to get a happily-ever-after. That is why I kept turning pages. I was totally hooked on their attraction and their scorching chemistry. Throw in an ex-lover and the suspense ratchets up.

I recommend this book to those who don’t mind lots of sex in their well written stories.

Review- Flying by Megan Hart

Title: Flying

Genre: Erotic Romance

Author: Megan Hart

Publisher: Harlequin MIRA, April, 2014

Source: Purchase

Rating: 5

Sexy Rating: 5

Description from Amazon.com:

Ever hear of wanderlust?

Every other weekend, Stella buys a ticket on the next flight out of town and leaves her life behind. Home is a place with too many memories, and departure is the sweetest possible distraction.

As soon as she arrives at her destination, Stella visits the airport bar. She orders a drink and waits for the right guy to come along. A bored businessman, a backpacker, a baggage handler just off shift. If he’s into a hot, no-strings hookup, he’s perfect. Each time is a thrilling escape from reality that gives the term layover a whole new meaning.

When Stella meets the enigmatic Matthew in Chicago one weekend, she hits some serious turbulence. Something about him tells her she’s not the only one running from the past. The connection between them is explosive, and for the first time, one taste is not enough for Stella. But returning to find a gorgeous man waiting for her is the easy part—facing the reason she’s there is a whole other matter….

If you are expecting just a light, no thoughts involved, sexy read then you will be disappointed. You will start reading expecting Stella to be some half-witted slut out for a good time but all that will change as you learn about her and her story. And her story will snag you in the heart as you come to understand and sympathize with her lot in life. So, no, this is not just about some slut who trolls airport bars looking for a one-night-stand. It is about a woman who is a mother, an ex-wife, a broken human who we hope can be made whole. I highly recommend this elegantly written, sexually explicit, deeply moving book.

Release Day Review- Surrender by Violetta Rand

Title: Surrender

Genre: Contemporary Romance/ Erotic

Author: Violetta Rand

Publisher: Loveswept, Jan 27, 2015

Source: Free for review from the publisher

Rating: 3

Sexy Rating: 5

Description from Amazon.com:

Fans of Abbi Glines will adore Violetta Rand’s novels about strong-willed women who must fight to survive—and the men who love them. Welcome to the Devil’s Den, a Texas strip club where the air is heavy with desire . . . and sometimes dreams come true.   Ever since her mother kicked her out, twenty-year-old Robyn Gonzalez has been working the poles at the Devil’s Den, saving up to finish college and travel the world. With only her wits and her gorgeous body to rely on, Robyn has learned to be independent—fiercely independent. She’s never been tempted to let a man distract her from her dreams . . . until she meets the dead-sexy Garrick Dempsey.   The club’s new head of security, Garrick had walked away from a career as a mechanical engineer to return to his roots in Corpus Christi. He hadn’t planned on getting to know someone like Robyn, with her sinfully sweet combination of vulnerability and strength, at the Devil’s Den. She acts tough, but only because she’s been hurt. Soon Garrick knows he will do anything to win Robyn’s trust. And if that means surrendering to the red-hot chemistry between them, all the better.

Oh so many mixed feelings about this book. That means it is a good read since it evokes all kinds of feelings. First off we have the gorgeous Robyn who comes from a seriously dysfunctional family which partly explains her choice in working as a stripper in a strip club. Then we have gorgeous Garrick who has abandoned his job as an engineer on an oil rig to become head of security at the club. They don’t meet there, at the club, they meet when one midnight she is being chased down a beach, he is fishing and saves her from the bad guy who, by the way, keeps turning up like a bad penny.

The story line in this one is good, can a “bad” girl, stripper find happiness with a main-stream kind of guy while all manner of violence and mayhem seems to surround her. Violetta Rand portrays Robyn as a “good” girl at heart; she is a virgin, she does not do drugs like so many of her co-strippers, she is working her way through college (okay that last part was a bit cliché but it helps define our heroine). She is also under twenty-one and technically too young to be doing her job. Now Garrick is one Alpha good-guy, a mechanical engineer tired of working the oil rig and taking a job that, seems to me, is beneath him. He is wealthy and throws his money around but really doesn’t seem to do it to impress just to get what he wants. Both of these characters are sympathetic even if at times Robyn seems a bit misguided and needs a reality check.

Ms Rand kept me reading and turning pages, always a mark of a good read. But I was frustrated by the first person narrative of both protagonists that went back and forth so that I, very often, did not know who was speaking. I really wish that there had been Chapter and section titles naming the speaker.

I recommend this book with the reservations that I have mentioned.
