Description from Amazon.com:

In Heather Boyd‘s The Christmas Affair, a lonely shopkeeper offers shelter to a beautiful, not so innocent miss to overcome the bitter memories of Christmases past, but could such a wicked connection ever lead to a happily-ever-after? A dashing spy with marriage on his mind seeks to rekindle the spark by any means possible with the woman who claimed his heart in Love at First Dance by Barbara Monajem. A scandalous widow rescues the man of her dreams – but his secrets could destroy their love in Nicola Davidson‘s Joy to the Earl. A masquerade ball was no place to be reckless with your innocence, and yet one scorching look at the masked highwayman urges Miss Partridge to do just that in Mistletoe and the Marquess by Wendy Vella. In Lord Misrule by Donna Cummings, a young widow chooses a handsome rogue to be her first lover, but his regrets from a past Christmas may end their affair before it even commences. A blue-stocking becomes a courtesan to escape a murderer in The Glittering Prize, an intrigue-filled romance by Beverley Oakley about finding love where it’s least expected. This is an all-new collection of stand-alone complete works.

Are you looking for some sizzling hot novellas to curl up with and warm your toes this Fall and Winter?  Well have I got an anthology for you!  These stories are way beyond warming by the fire.  They are well written by accomplished authors who manage to imbue their characters with deep heartfelt characterization and sympathy for the poor sexy dears. Each story revolves around the Christmas season and as usual with these anthologies some stories have more Christmasy feeling than others but all include happily ever afters and that is enough for me. This is a bargain right now on Amazon Kindle so I encourage you to make haste.  Then schedule some time over the holidays to read each scintillating story.

Description from Amazon.com:

Richard Hill, the Earl of Windermere, might desperately require a wife and heir, but thoughts of duty fly from his mind when he rescues Esme, Lady Heathcote, from the embarrassment of a failed affair. They usually never agree about anything. He’s never even kissed the vexing widow. But when the opportunity arises to whisk her away for a no-strings-attached rendezvous, Richard can’t imagine a better way to spend a moonlit evening. Esme has never lacked for admirers, but having Lord Windermere’s company goes a long way to ease the pain of losing her suddenly betrothed lover. And when Windermere suggests an affair, Esme is intrigued by the blazing-hot connection even while knowing their relationship has no future beyond his house party. But as with any temptation, it’s a bargain they’ll soon regret.

This romance was so romantic!! Yes, I know they are supposed to be romantic but too often they do misplace the romance for action, adventure, mystery or pathos. This has none of those, it is just all romance and a good bit of some mildly kinky sex. It is so well written that I can guarantee you will fall in love with Richard, Lord Windermere. Is he too good to be true?  Well….maybe a little but his only fault is being just a touch arrogant.  Esme is no Spring Chick at 36, widowed, childless and presumed barren she is not about to fall in love with 43 year old Richard who needs to marry and sire an heir. Esme has been around the block a few times and knows her own mind.  Richard is all about changing her mind.

I can highly recommend this well written, sizzling romance to all of you who are craving something that makes you want to turn the pages.  This is the one.

Reason to Wed is the seventh story in the Distinguished Rogues series. Other titles are:

Book 1: Chills

Book 2: Broken

Book 3: Charity

Book 4: An Accidental Affair

Book 5: Keepsake

Book 6: An Improper Proposal https://ladeetdareads.wordpress.com/2015/06/24/recent-release-review-an-improper-proposal-by-heather-boyd/

P.S.- Do not judge this book by that terrible cover!!!!

Description from Amazon.com:

What a woman wants… The only person who ever understood what Julia Radley wanted most in life was the man who ruined her reputation and secured her victory in a bold swimming race. She does not hold Valentine Merton accountable for the harsh criticisms made against her character until he suggests the only way to smooth over the scandal of his defeat is to wed as soon as possible. … the gentleman must dare. After picking himself up after proposing, Valentine Merton is even more determined to tame the wild girl next door. The future he wants within the clockmaker’s guild depends on their speedy marriage. A few sweet words or, as a last resort, another brazen dare is sure to persuade her to take a chance on him… and his family. A sizzling regency historical romance. ~ * ~ Miss Radley’s Third Dare is the third novella in the Miss Mayhem Series. Other titles are: Book 1: Miss Watson’s First Scandal Book 2: Miss George’s Second Chance Book 3: Miss Radley’s Third Dare Book 4: Miss Merton’s Last Hope

*******************

This is a well written novella but I have not read the first two books in this series and I was a bit lost with the side characters. I know that if I had read Miss Watson’s and Miss George’s story I would not have been as confused and I would have enjoyed Julia and Valentine’s story even more. Julia is a tomboy and is out to prove that she can do whatever a man can do. Valentine rather likes her feisty behavior even though society is considering her scandalous. But since Valentine contributed to one of her scandalous behaviors he is also in trouble. Ms. Boyd brings these two characters to life with heated encounters and sizzling chemistry.

Description from Amazon.com:

In life there are choices… Spinster Iris Hedley was once the darling of the ton until her father lost his fortune through an illness of the mind. Reduced to living as a penniless guest while her father rots in debtor’s prison, she’s determined to escape unscrupulous robbers who’ve set her to spy on the ton by the only means possible—by becoming a wealthy man’s mistress. Unfortunately for Iris, her proper upbringing never covered intimacy or seduction so she asks the one man she trusts for help with private lessons in the duties of a mistress. …in love there is but one Martin Andrews, the Earl of Louth, may have a soft spot for tiny Iris Hedley, especially after her father fled London with a horde of debtors nipping at his heels. Her request for lessons in seduction leaves him reeling and although tempted it’s an offer he must refuse for her own good. Convinced she’s headed for heartbreak, he sets out to prove that surrendering to wicked pleasure is not worth the sacrifice of her future only to discover that her problems are more complicated than his own. A sizzling regency historical romance novel.

**

Yes, this is a sizzling novel; safe to say it is a bit raunchy but feels like reality of the times. It doesn’t gloss over the morals and attitudes of society by focusing on the simpering debs at the ball. This is about those who are trying to just hang on in society and perhaps even feeling some panic at their perceived downfall. Or some who have learned how to play the game for their own advantage.

I enjoyed this darker regency romance. The characters were brought to life and felt very real. The good guy had his faults and the villain was truly evil. Iris was very lucky when she pursued being a mistress that she encountered Martin who was an honorable man since the ton was full of the dishonorable type. I really like this not-so-varnished view of the era.

I can easily recommend this book to HR fans.
