Description from Amazon.com:

They want him dead and her enslaved . . . Texas . . . the heart of a territory that stretches from the golden deserts of New Mexico to the turquoise shores of the Florida Keys. It’s big, it’s rich, and it’s the next battleground for some of the most dangerous vampires in the world. Christian Duvall . . . charismatic and powerful, and determined to claim the South as his own. But with old enemies and new fighting to stop him, victory suddenly takes on a brutal, and far more treacherous, edge. Because what one of his enemies wants more than anything else already belongs to Christian . . . and her name is Natalie. Natalie Vivant Gaudet . . . brilliant and lovely, a strong Southern woman who can unravel the most intricate financial schemes designed to swindle and steal. She loves her complex job and the simplicity of her life. And then she meets Christian. He’s beautiful, he’s complicated, and she’ll fight to keep him alive. With allies trying to kill him, and enemies readying a horde of zombie vampires to roll over all of Texas, it will take every shred of Christian’s power and Natalie’s determination to win this war and give North America a brand new Lord of the South.

**

We are introduced to Christian, a powerful vampire from France, who approaches the vampire lord of the West, Raphael, with a request to be included in the challenge for the territory of the South in the USA. Christian needs the tacit approval from Raphael who is deemed the unofficial but esteemed leader of the Vampires in America.  Christian travels to Houston to meet with retiring Lord Anthony and there meets and has an instant attraction with Anthony’s forensic Accountant Natalie.  The attraction is mutual but Anthony is jealous.  There is another European Master Vampire who is making efforts to foil all of Christian’s plans to take over the South.

Some series start to slow down and become redundant with so many books, not this series.  The Vampire Wars, a continuation of the Vampires In America series, started with Reynold’s book #9 DECEPTION and with CHRISTIAN (book #10) we find the series ramping up the intrigue, thrills and more vampire power-plays.  The romance is sensual, lusty and loving.  Christian is a bit kinky and there may be a ménage a trois in Natalie’s future.  Not such a bad thing to look forward to with Christian and his hunky lieutenant Marc Forest.  The introduction of the vampire zombies gave heart pounding action as the fate of our heroes was in doubt. The demonstration of Christian’s power was breathtaking.

This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone novel because Reynold’s is adept at weaving background information throughout the plot.

This series is at the top of my list for fabulous Paranormal Romance with plenty of action, thrills and hot sexy Vampires. No sparkles here but plenty of charisma.
